They flee violent gangs, cross the desert, and when they get to the U.S., have to face a judge alone.
This breaks my heart.
Artist Spotlight: El Anatsui
The Brooklyn Museum is currently home to internationally acclaimed artist El Anatsui’s first solo exhibition in New York. The exhibition entitled Gravity and Grace: Monumental Works by El Anatsui shows through August 4, 2013. Heavily displayed are his ideas of non-fixed work and new mediums of creating. Much of the materials are recycled and much of the works are designed to be malleable and therefore different each time they are presented.
I could not help but think about the patience and commitment to a singular idea necessary to complete the works as I examined, read, and photographed the work. The texture, size, and details steal your eye fron eery angle. I highly recommend the exhibit for those in or near the city.
The Brooklyn Museum is open Wed. 11am-6pm, Th.11am-10pm, and Fri.-Sun. 11am-6pm. Check out some photos from my visit.

Think about your choices. Then when the key changes, think about them again.
